In this month’s user spotlight blog, we’re talking to Adolph J. Torres (LandsEnd), Senior Programmer Analyst at Baycare.

What is your current role and some career background?

My current job title is Senior Programmer Analyst.
Career background: Eight years working with Nintex products. I’m on the Software Engineering team responsible for the intranet at BayCare, including 16 hospitals and 32,000 team members. Previously, I was a senior .NET programmer for fifteen years.

Which Nintex Product are you most passionate about and why?

Nintex Forms and Workflow products. Microsoft chose well to have Nintex as a BayCare vendor for our SharePoint Cloud Platform. Both Form and Workflow products are exclusively what my team uses for BayCare’s intranet. These Nintex products are extremely versatile, have really good training material associated with them, and a user community that is very active.

What do you enjoy most about answering Community questions?

I really like that the responses to my questions come back fast either from community members or from Nintex staff. The knowledge base where one can find answers to previous questions is greatly appreciated. I have myself answered my own questions on the community site so others can take advantage of what I could share as well. In my fast paced environment the response times for answers is quick, and again much appreciated.

Is there any advice you would give to users learning Nintex?

Take every class you can on Nintex University. I’ve been certified on forms and workflows and the lessons are a good starting point to get started faster.

What's one thing — either industry-related or not — you learned in the last month?

I had a user request for a form to be associated with a contact (based on location) and send notification emails to different team members by region. The problem was to get to the locations drop-down, they had to click on a checkbox, otherwise the locations’ drop-down stayed hidden. I found by using the 'add a new rule,' I could check to see if the location field was blank, and if so, I then send the notification email to the admin - a link to the completed form.

What's something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?

I’ve trained cats. I have a black and tiger cat that, when kittens, using sprays from pet stores, learned not to go onto counters, couches (except on top of them/where I laid out fabric they could lay on), and even to not go upstairs to the upper floor. Funny thing is that in the morning when going to feed them, one or both can be just sitting at the bottom of stairs just looking up lol.
