Hi,

How many of you are using the new Sync Service?

If you are, what time are you setting for the sync schedule just out of interest and is there a specific reason you are using that time? see below extract?

“You can schedule an amount of time to sync between three minutes and seven days. You must enter it in the following format: DD:HH:MM:SS. For example, 00:07:00:00 is seven hours

When i upgrade to v5.7, i am thinking of installing the Sync Service afterwards.

Anything to look out for or pitfalls?

Hi SharpSharp1

I have enabled Sync Service with a hand full of clients already (pre 5.7).  It work fine.

Things to look out for.

  • It does not set itself up, you need to activate it through Management
    • It does not have a nice interface, you need to run SmartObject methods.
      • they are under system SmartObjects
    • I would use SmartForms and build a nice interface.
    • You need to run an initial sync.
      • this could take very long if you have a large AD
      • at one of our clients it ran for 4 hours (Very large Active directory)
      • hereafter updates are incremental and run much faster.
    • I set updates to happen hourly since they are incremental and this seems to be working fine for the time being.
    • you can do ad-hoc updates by doing run now
  • If you have SharePoint Integration the sync users functionality in K2 for SharePoint App no longer works. Use the new sync service functionality.

Hope this helps
