I have Nintext DocGen, is it possible to send the email automatically from salesforce based on an update to the status field? OR do I need the Nintex workflow app too?

Hi @jasmine ,
If you have the lastest version of NIntex DocGen, you can use Process Builder within Salesforce to generate your documents, and have them sent via email. We have a community blog post here that should help to get you started:

You could create an workflow rule in salesforce that will be triggered by certain criteria (like a change in a field or something) that run your DDP and send it through email.
