Resolution

Re-configuring the logical filters for the worklist control resolved the issue. This issue has also be associated with an existing bug.

The following behavior occurs because starting with 4.6.9, Internet Explorer 8 is no longer supported by Smartforms. 

The default master page in SharePoint sets the Document Mode in IE to "IE8 Standards", regardless of the version of IE being used which results in the form attempting to load in IE8 Mode.As such, the following behavior will occur:

1.  The web part validates the document mode, if its IE8 – it will state that “Your Browser’s Compatibility mode is not supported” with a 'click here' link which will open the form in a new tab using higher document mode.

2.  If the compatibility mode is IE9 or greater; it will render in the SF viewer web part.
