If you create the variable within the action, the Input/output will only show the available variable type that can be created.

If the Input/Output only accept one data type, it will always default to that.

One of the advantage in creating variable via "Variables" ribbon is that you can set the initial/default value of the variable (for certain variable type).

it depends what kind of variable type you are creating.

That may be the reason why the action isn't allowing to select your variable.  The data can't be stored in that type of variable.

I have tried to initiate the variable with a default value and this is also not working.
