Hello everyone,

I have used the "set a workflow status" action in my workflows and I use these statuses are in a column in my sharepoint list. I have a Sharepoint teamsite that I use only for testing purposes and when we go live I export and import the workflow to the teamsite and list in which I want to use it.

 

Problem is that when I import a workflow to an existing list I lose the statuses of the items that were already in that list. Is there a different way to log these statuses so that they remain visible, even when the workflow has been replaced by an updated version?

Hello,

A simple way would be to create your own text column and write the status to that instead.   This way you  aren't relying on internally linked information that  is easily broken when transferred from one list to another.  Throughout your  workflow you simply write to this  column by using a set field or update item action and set the status accordingly.
