However, the text in the link in my first post says this about the Status column: "The current status for the process. Please refer to Appendix A – Status for details on process instance statuses."

So there should be an Appendix A somewhere, shouldn't it? Can't find it.

I have checked the documentation and it appears as if the Appendix A does not exist. It is likely that that part of the description was added in error. As mentioned by Mustafa, the statuses are all listed in the ServerLog.Status table, but it does not appear to exist in the Developer Reference.
