Symptoms

We deployed a form into production and when user submits the form an email notification is supposed to be sent. Upon submission an error appears that says "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. So I logged onto the server and looked at Blackpearl server and noticed an error as well. Error Starting Host Server: Bind() Failed. Error Code: 10048 Error invoking 'StartHostServer' : SourceCode.HostServerLib : bind() Failed.
Error Code 10048 Stopped Hosting Server Runtime.

_2: Once we resolved this issue, another one surfaced with the Environment Library. Emails were not being sent from Smartforms which had rules to send emails. We wanted to check the Environment Field values, but every time that we navigated to the Environment Template we received an error: "The connection string is invalid: MailServerName]"
We were locked out of the Environment Templates and could not make any changes there.

Diagnoses

_1: This error is associated with running K2 as both a service and in Console mode.

_2: This error was associated with changing a Mail Server Environment field to Exchange.

Resolution

_1: Running K2 as just a service resolved the issue.

_2: Since we could not edit the Environment Fields we had to look at the database and noticed that the Mail Server had a Field Type of Exchange Server. We changed the Field Type in the database to Mail Server using the GUID found there. We were able to get into the Environment Library and email was being sent from the form.
