It is important to be aware about the differences between development and production licenses for K2 blackpearl. This article details these differences.
 

 

Diagnoses

 


Technical limitations for K2 blackpearl development license are covered in K2 documentation available online. Any additional licensing questions may be also addressed to your Customer Account Manager.
 

 

Resolution

There are number of limitations for development license, and apart from necessity to run it in console mode it is also limited to single server installation (meaning no K2 NLB cluster, or extra threads from additional server or servers), plus it is limited to use single CPU and single-threaded execution (no multiple processor support). The following are important considerations that applies to the Developer license:
Each K2 blackpearl Production Server License allows for unlimited installations of K2 blackpearl Development Servers for non-production use only.
K2 blackpearl Development Servers may not run as a Windows Service and can only be operated in console mode.
K2 blackpearl Development Servers are limited to Single Server installations.
Development Server licenses can be requested on the K2 Customer Portal https://portal.k2.com/licensekey/Default.aspx

Console Mode has the following limitations and performance implications for all Development Servers:
Requires Local Login
Single-threaded Execution only
Single CPU only (multiple processor use is disabled)
