Symptoms

Cannot fill out the selected controls to validate a new item form. Filled in the 'Select Controls to Validate' under the form's Rules, in the 'When Save is Clicked on the View' then click 'OK' and nothing happens opening the rule immediately after clicking OK or after saving or after clicking Finish shows that nothing is being kept - in other words the Required fields that we check do not latch.
 

Diagnoses

Likely an XML issue with that specific rule.
 

Resolution

Replaced the validation rule with a new one and configured it as desired. Also configured the other validation rules on the form to match the top most one, because they essentially exist as a workaround to not having nested IF statement functionality.
