Symptoms

Upgrade to 4.6.9 fails at SPAdmin step, service cannot be started
 

Diagnoses

Our K2 stagging server is not a SharePoint server, only K2 (4.6.8) is installed and the upgrade (setup manager) fails when trying to start the SPAdmin service.

Server had the SPAdmin service running although this server did not have any SharePoint services.
 

Resolution

Server was configured with SharePoint services, of which the server didn't have any SharePoint roles or interacted with any other SharePoint within their Infrastructure. We removed the SPAdmin service by invoking the following command: sc delete SPAdmin.
