I have two seperate processes (A and 
. One of the outcomes from Process A, I would like to trigger process B and give the user a task. But I also want to be able to start process B on it's own. The question I have is, can a process Folio be updated after the process has already started or does it need to be set at the start?

i know that u might have solved it already by IPC ,
but for the purpose of future seekers for this question , you could accomplish this by triggering Process B by using an IPC event in process A ,
while using IPC event , then u could update the foolio from its wizard ,

I believe you may also be able to update a process folio after it has been started by using a Data Transfer event against the Process Instance > Folio field:
