Symptoms

Receiving the following error message while starting Blackpearl Setup Manager:

"Unsupported license entered for Windows 7, a developer license is required for K2 Server installs"

Diagnoses

This error is being thrown when you are trying to install all components (both server and client) on a Windows 7 client machine. Though such configuration is not supported as clearly indicated in K2 blackpearl compatibility matrix you may still proceed with installation in such scenario (only for development or testing purposes and accepting the risks of running unsupported configuration).

In order to bypass this error message disable the "checkwindows7" property in the product.config file. The product.config file can be found in "C:Program Files (x86)K2 blackpearlSetup" and the setting should look like this:

<setting key="checkwindows7" value="false" />

Resolution

You should understand that installation of K2 server components on desktop OS is supported only for developer licenses or console mode only. If you want install server components on desktop OS using another license type you should understad that this is not supported configuration and if this is acceptable for you use settings described above to bypass related error message.
