Symptoms

K2 Workspace displays "The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found".
K2 Designer displays "HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable".
K2 smartforms Application Pool in IIS stopped and unable to start.

 

Diagnoses

Attempting to manually start the K2 smartforms Application Pool is not succesfull.
Windows event Logs show EventID 5059 - "Application pool K2 smartforms has been disabled. Windows Process Activation Service (WAS) encountered a failure when it started a worker process to serve the application pool."
 

Resolution

Rectify the Application Pool account privileges as per http://help.k2.com/onlinehelp/k2blackpearl/icg/4.6.11/webframe.html_before_serviceaccounts.html
