Hi,

We are building an application using K2 Smart Forms, K2 Smart Objects and K2 Workflow in VS.

There is one main smart form with 5 tabs. The tabs, eventually, will have various Views added and there will be lots of rules.

We are at a very early stage of development, and can see the Main Smart Form already ending up with many rules. Once all the tabs are completed, the form will have a big list of rules.

Could anyone please advise if this could lead to performance issues once the application is Live. We could remove the tabs if we can know the limit to the number of rules that one smart form can handle without performance issues.

Has anyone faced performance issues due to long list of rules on the K2 Smart Form?

(We have been referring to the K2 Smart Forms Implementation Tips document, however, it would be good to know if anyone has already faced performance issues due to long list of rules.)

Kind Regards,

Puneet

Hi Puneet,

I found a link which contains a video which discusses various methods of testing Smartform performance.

Puneet,

What version of Smartforms are you running?
Is Smartforms running on the same server as K2 blackpearl?

Hi Yannick/Gail,

Many thanks for your responses.

On the Dev machine, the K2 Smart Form version is 1.0.5 (4.12165.1605.0).

On Dev, we have K2 Blackpearl and K2 Smart Forms installed on the same machine with a separate DB server, however, on UAT and Prod, the K2 Blackpearl and K2 Smart Forms components will be installed in a distributed manner.

We have decided to create different forms rather than different tabs part of the same form. We can still keep the tabs but provide a link to the respective forms.

Kind Regards,
Puneet

Hi Puneet,

I also recommend that u rather use different forms than a single form.

By using different forms you can always use the "navigate to form rule",

  This means less rules and less views on a form. {Decreasing the possibility of performance issues and allows easier troubleshooting.}

Hi PMinhas

In regards with your last request, please see the following links:

Thanks Quintin and Raymond Jansen Van Rensburg.

We will go with separate Forms approach. As mentioned, it will help in easier maintainability and troubleshooting. Also, helps avoid any performance issues which could arise having everything in one form.

Kind Regards,

Puneet
