Verify that your SMTP and/or exchange values are correct via Workspace -> Management Console -> Environment Library. If "system@k2.com" is your K2 Service Account, ensure that there are connection strings added for this account via the Connection String Editor (K2blackpearlHostServerBin).
You could also try re-running the K2 setup manager from your installation media, choose configure, rerun through all the wizards to ensure that the correct service account and exchange/SMTP accounts are specified, then finish the configuration.
