Symptoms


Workflow is unable to deploy, throwing the following error:

"The selected state ''name of workflow state]" does not exist on the server. Run the SmartForms Workflow Integration wizard to resolve the conflicts."
 

Diagnoses


A workflow state was deleted manually by the developer from the associated SmartForm that is tied into the workflow in question. The workflow start rule was still configured to look for the particular state, and throws the error stated above because it cannot find the workflow state.
 

Resolution

Issue was resolved by the customer by rebuilding the workflow in question directly on the production environment (previously existed in dev), circumventing the issue through a rebuild.

Normally this error can be resolved by opening the start rule and selecting 'create new state' to have the workflow rebuild the workflow state that was deleted on the SmartForm.
