What are the design considerations to choose between SQL-server or SharePoint for storing the application data when developing a K2-SharePoint application?

It really depends honestly on what you want to develop in the application. Because anything you creates in the K2for SharePoint app is going to be stored in the K2 DB anyway because at that point it's a K2 artifact.
