Symptoms

I have had to rebuild all of my smart objects, forms and workflows for the list in question due to deleting a column in sharepoint completely messing up all of my artifacts. This Workflow Participants smartobject has been recreated and I have selected the option to allow it to work in workflows.

However, when I go to the workflow, I do not have it as an option in the workflow (reoccuring issue). This should come in automatically, so this is a question of both how to get it to show up but also what solution can be put into place to enable smartobjects that are created to be more readily available after they are created (feature enhancement).

Resolution

Resolution: Give the SmartObject scope from the K2 Appit for SharePoint -> SmartObjects menu. Under 'Additional', click Add, browse for the SmartObject, and give it the desired scope.
