Symptoms

We're attempting to update and refresh SQL SERVER references. And SmartObject tester tool has errors when trying to connect please see attached document

 

Diagnoses

Network traffic, number of object usually affects the time it takes to the Service Instance to get created or refreshed. Sometimes it depends in the inactive reporting service objects in the database. Adding more time to the instance to complete helps with the load of the objects.

 

Resolution

The issue was inconsistent and sometimes it was able to complete the refresh but not all the time. Adding the timeout to the connection string of the database helped to complete the refresh.

On K2 BlackPearl 4.6.9 this command is included as a property of the SQL Service Instance. They will upgrade to 4.6.9.
