Site Workflow Variables vs. Library Workflow Variables

I'm new to using site workflows and noticed that there are differences in configuring certain actions that seem confusing to me.  For example, I'm trying to set up a variable to use in a site workflow the same way I have it set up in a library workflow.  The image below is the library workflow set variable action:

The next image is the site workflow set variable action:

Am I setting this up right?  It just seems that the extra "equals" line is unnecessary and is making me question it.

    Hi Will,

    In your site workflow you don't have a "Current Item" because the workflow runs on the whole site, not just on a single list item. Which means in your site workflow you will always choose a list and then use filters to get a specific item.

    Thanks for the quick response.  I understand why I don't have a "current item" in site workflows, but the last part seemed a little confusing at first.  I appreciate the help!
