Diagnoses

Initially when you have SharePoint 2010 deployed with K2 and are going through the process of re-negotiating your licences and would ideally like to shut down the SP server linked to the K2 install as the workflows that have been built do not use SharePoint in anyway.

The SP server gets shut down and the workflows do not operate when this is off. Only when you turn it on then workflows work as normal.

Is there anyway the K2 installation can be de-coupled from SP and run as a standalone K2 environment?
 

Resolution

It would be best to remove the sharepoint features from the site totally. It seems that this affects the activity of the processes. After this has been done, if you do then decide to turn off the Sharepoint server you should not face any more problems.
