Symptoms

SharePoint Group Providers and error messsage "This page is available only for a Web site with unique permissions"
 

Diagnoses

When you have several K2 applications based on the SharePoint 2010 lists or libraries.

In production environment a HostServer log is flooded with the errors like:

01:02:04","Error","General","1","GeneralErrorMessage","SharePointProvider.GetGroupContainers","1 An unexpected failure was encountered when contacting SharePoint to get information from the group provider App01: Server was unable to process request. ---andgt This page is available only for a Web site with unique permissions.

InnerException: Server was unable to process request. ---andgt This page is available only for a Web site with unique permissions.","","","K2SERVER:C:Program Files (x86)K2 blackpearlHost ServerBin","93940650","d359a66f105e4d0d95e4af778b880246",""

The problem seems to be created by the Sharepoint Group Provider.



 

Resolution

This can occur if the group provider is based on a site and this is not recommended. You can read more on this via the documentation in regards to Group Providers.
