I created a smart object for a document library and later added a new field which hows up in the Service object. I have refreshed the service object and the smart object and the field still does not show up in the smart object. Im running 4.6.1 Black Pearl. Is there a way to correct this without having to recreate the smart object?

You may need to remap or recreate your smart object fields against the service object.
I think from memory you need to go through each of your actions on the smart object and then click automap, it should add the field that is new / changed.
