Symptoms

Rules Unresolved

Diagnoses

Scenario:

When working on a Form, that contains 2 views. The views are almost identical (and therefore one is copied from the other) but there are some changes. On both views there is a rule saying when you press this button you need to open the Subform. The subforms contains 1 view. Upon the view there are 10 rules applicable, on the form 3 extra so 13 in total.

After finishing the subform going back to the mainform to adjust some things and then seeing that you have two extra "rules" there which are in error.

Message: "location of rule is unresolved". It is not possible to adjust the rule and it is not possible to remove the rule because it says it is a rule on my subform. With this appearing here it is not possible to complete the form itself.

Resolution

This error will occur if form rules are duplicated to another form/view especially if smart objects are involved.
The best way to get around this would be to avoid copying form rules to another form. Rolling back the form to a previous version to allow you to reconfigure the form entirely.

Please have a look below at the link for information on how to roll back a form.
