We are using the Newsfeed posts as a notification area within SharePoint. We have some business units that have recurring posts that need to happen on regular intervals. Is there a way of doing this with a Nintex Workflow?

No, I don't think you could this with any workflow.
I think you need a custom webpart to read newsfeeds and where you could set the time you need.
