Creating a list template and using it on a different site collection or subsite is a straight forward enough process. If however you happen to have involved a LookUp column in the List templating will become problematic.
There is a known SharePoint problem involving List templates derived from lists with LookUp columns:

This creates problems for an Appit user as if you try to appify a list with a malfunctioning LookUp column you will be unable to do so and will mostly likely receive this error:
List does not exist. The page you selected contains a list that does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user.
Fortunately for us the fix is simple, remove the LookUp column and readd it.
