Symptoms

We are getting inconsistent issues when PDF Converter SmartObject does not render PDF file correctly with smartforms URL. Sometimes, the rendering would cause narrow column on the printed PDF page.

Diagnoses

In this situation, enabling UseWebkit should fix many of the quality issues. It’s possible that this is related to the timeout issue, it is normally caused when the PDF converter cannot detect that the page has finished loading. This is similar to the browser loading icon in IE/Chrome/Firefox when you navigate to a large web page with a lot of images/flash. A suggestion is to use UseSerialization setting. It basically will load all the images/CSS to disk before handing the conversion task over to the PDF converter service.

Resolution

Setting up the PDF Service Instance to use Serialization setting resolved the issue.
