Just a thought:

maybe you provided your username as the admin account during K2 blackpear setup.

If yes, please re-run the setup and provide a service account for the admin with a password that never expires.

Unfortunately that's not it.
A service account with a password that never expired was used during the setup.
My username is not used anywhere in the setup.

Please try re-caching your credentials and password under K2 Workspace > User Settings > Single Sign-On > against the K2 label.

I was able to deploy without being locked out. I'll see how it goes in the future
