Package and Deployment - Resolving SharePoint column issues

Diagnoses

When using Package and Deploy with SmartObjects that are created based on SharePoint list columns, how are the DEV / PROD columns mapped? Is PandD looking specifically at the SharePoint columns or is it looking at the SmartObject created by those SmartObject? If it is looking at the SharePoint columns specifically, does it map the internal SP column name or the display name of the column? If it simply compares the SmartObjects, are the SmartObject names based on the internal name or display name of the SP columns?

Resolution

Package and Deployment tool is looking at both the Display Name and Internal Name of the Target List/Library when the package is being deployed.

Best practice is to use a .stp, else ensure that the names of the list as well as the columns are the same. If you have lookup lists that contain extra columns, make sure that the lists and columns name are exactly the same as your source.
