Could you confirm for me which version of Blackpearl and Smartforms you are currently running? You can open a report via a Smartform, please have a look at the links below which discusses how to achieve this.

Just to add to that, if you are using SSRS or similar reporting services which can bee accessed online by users then you can also use the content control and then pass the url to the report in the content control URL property and it display the report there. The content control is very similar, if not the same as a iframe.
