Symptoms

No such host is known error on service object publish

Diagnoses

I was able to publish this on last Friday without any errors. This Monday morning, I can not. I am getting the error below (although the service object does seem to get updated):

No such host is known error

I have check and the K2 Connect Service is running on the server. I can use the K2 Service Object Designer to browse to SAP through this server connection.

Resolution

We noticed that although it threw the "no such host is known" error the service object does deploy and get updated successfully. Testing the resolution of the machine name and k2 farm name with ping returned the "Tunnel adapter 6T04 Adapter" IPV6 address as the default instead of the IPV4/IPV6 Ethernet adapter Ethernet0 address.

As such as a test, we added 'hosts' file entries to the local machine to resolve to the ethernet IPV4 address after which the error is no longer logged. As this was previously working without errors, perhaps something had changed over the weekend in the DNS server/local machine network setting.

Was the "Tunnel adapter 6T04 Adapter" recently enabled?

Perhaps test with 'nslookup' (with the 'hosts' entries commented out) to see if anything had change. Or perfoming an 'ipconfig /flushdns' to clear local DNS cache and re-test.
