Symptoms

 


MSMQ error in K2 host server log: System.Messaging.MessageQueueException (0x80004005): A workgroup installation computer does not support the operation.

 

 

Diagnoses

 


When getting an exception "A workgroup installation computer does not support the operation" you should verify the following:

 

 

 

  •  
    Check your installation of the MSMQ if it is installed in the Workgroup Mode? You should select AD integration mode during installation.

  •  
    If you had selected AD integration mode, then check the event logs for MSMQ installation if it had failed during initialization.

  •  
    Ensure that your domain controller is accessible from the machine where MSMQ is installed.


     
 

 

 

Note that in order to run MSMQ in Domain mode you have to install it on domain member machine and select AD integrated mode - these are prerequisites which must be met. But even when prerequisites were met it could be the case that MSMQ was installed in Workgroup mode, in particular AD integration could have been selected but failed to initialize (check event logs).
 
 

 

Resolution

In case you verified and tried all the possible options and nothing helps you may try to do the following:

 


- Uninstall MSMQ feature from your server
- Remove MSMQ queues objects inside of your server's computer object in AD DS
- Install MSMQ feature again
