Symptoms
Management console menu not appearing for user added not too long ago before we upgraded (from 4.5) to 4.6.11, it also not appearing for a new user I just added. Both are domain user.
I have tried deleting all permission from workspace, but as soon as we give the user permission to management console, the menu disappear for that and other affected users. This happen to a few particular users within the same domain for all 3 K2 servers of the same domain.
Diagnoses
K2 workspace may not be able to read the user's information correctly, and thus not able to apply the correct workspace permission to it.
Resolution
This was determined to be an Active Directory permission issue.
- In Active Directory Users and Computers, under the Security tab of the affected users, Authenticated Users are not given the "Read" permission
- In contrast, for users who are not affected, Authenticated Users have the "Read" permission
This issue is resolved by granting K2 workspace account the permission to "Read" the affected Active Directory user object.
A product enhancement request was logged to display a clearer error/warning messages, since there are currently no messages being displayed.
