Symptoms

/k2services/rest.svc Authentication with server failed. I am unable to access the API's on our dev environment. With the REST service I get this error message

InitializeSecurityContext: (80090322) Authentication with server failed
 

Diagnoses

Authentication Setting in the K2 Services web.config file are the most common causes of this kind of errors. Reviewing the file it was set to work as expected an no errors were found and everything was looking good from a configuration point of view.
 

Resolution


There was a hint that Kerberos was set in some point in time. After listing the SPN's for the sevice account we found some regarding the server and the old hostname created for the server. Removing the SPN's from the Service account and the app pool account resolved the issue.
