K2MNG hitting K2Log?

To determine what users have a worklist item open, we are calling the GetWorkListItems() method from K2Mng. This does not always seem to be accurate; it appears to be showing data from the recent past.

Is K2MNG hitting K2Log for this information? Since the logging thread generally has a lower priority, can we expect this data to be noticeably out of date? If so, is there a better solution?
