K2 Workspace error and K2 blackpearl service hanging
 

Diagnoses


On our UAT environment, when we accessed K2 Workspace url, we received an error "input string was not in a correct format". On the Workspace if we click on Management Console, we received "Exception thrown by the target of an invocation". To resolve this error, we tried the fix suggested in this link http://URL... which essentially turns off the discovery service. But it didn't help with our issue. So we reverted the config files to the previous state. Then we tried running the K2 Setup, with Modify option selected, unchecked K2 Workspace (only), which should remove the K2 Workspace and repair the K2 Core. But this step is stuck with "unable to start K2 Blackpearl service". Now the service is hanging in "starting".


 

Resolution

Resolution: Ran a repair for BlackPearl. In doing so this allowed the services to start, the error when attempting to access the Management Console in Workspace, fixed errors with K2 Studio. Prior to running repair advised if there are any coldfixes, they will be removed.
