There is a known problem with K2 CMS components.

Symptom:
A reboot will cause the MSI installer to fire each boot cycle.

Cause:
The K2 CMS installer was created and it included a component called Automatic Updates by mistake every time the PC reboots it tries to check for updates and it fails because SourceCode does not have update servers.

Fix:
The workaround that was found is to delete some registry entries for the AutoUpdate software to prevent it form starting when the PC reboots.

1. Open up regedit.
2. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun
3. Delete the entries for:
  • ISUSPM Startup
    ISUSScheduler

4. Subsequent reboots should not attempt K2 CMS re-installs.

The next version of the K2 CMS installs does not include the AutoUpdate components, however if a user updates to SP2 he will still need to disable the autoupdate manually because the update can not remove the autoupdate components.
