Symptoms

You may see the following issue with K2 SmartForms 4.6.9 when using Microsoft Internet Explorer 9. If you use backspace to erase all the text within RTF control, RTF control freezes.
Sample reproduction steps:
Create form with RTF control, run it in IE9 and type the word “Test”, then click backspace 5 times.
What happens is that four hits on backspace erase word Test, but fifth hit to backspace key somehow leads to focus change “out of RTF control” and if you click backspace 6th time it just navigates back to form properties page (this is when form is being run from K2 Designer web frame, not in separate browser window or tab).
If form is opened in separate browser window or tab using runtime URL it “freezes”, focus went away from “text body” and you are unable to “return into it”. Buttons on RTF control do not work also.

Diagnoses

This is known issue with K2 SmartForms which is present in IE9 only, but absent in other browsers IE11/Chrome/Firefox. This issue is not a subject for quick fix and will be addressed in one of the future releases.

Resolution

This issue is related to underlying third party software which is being used in our product, this software has to be updated. Update for this third party software is already available, but to fully incorporate it in K2 SmartForms major code changes in K2 are necessary. Currently it is preliminary scheduled to update/fix this problem in 4.6.11 minor release, which is due by the end of July. Note that exact release version to include this fix and release dates mentioned are always subject to change.
