Symptoms

Issue:
K2 host server service was not able to start. the error found was " Error Invoking 'StartHostServer' : The type initializer for '' threw an exception. Stopped Hosting Server Runtime" and could only be found by trying to run the service from command prompt.
 

Diagnoses

Diagnosis:
On the meeting we had a look at the windows update log and found that there was some updates that were installed on the server but were not showing on the add or remove programs. We then proceeded to install all the scheduled updates manually.
 

Resolution

Resolution:
After we applied all the updates manually the server was restarted windows reverted some of the updates. After the revert and restart was completed we were able to log on the the server and K2 host server were able to start and run successfully.
