Symptoms

You may observe the following issues/limitations of AutoComplete Control in K2 4.6.9:

1) "When searching data with AutoComplete control if at least one of found results contains quotes (") then control does not display search results/entries in quotes"

2) AutoComplete control doesn't have an ability to indicate fields to search and searches only by Display field

3) AutoComplete control doesn't show any results if number of search results exceeds 100.

Diagnoses

(1) This is known issue which is resolved in K2 4.6.10 (internal ID 654613). This issue is resolved 4.6.10 with CP rollup 4610.8 and fix is included in 4.6.11/4.7 too.

Workaround: Avoid using quotation marks.

(2) Details on use case/issue: It may be necessary to search by fields which are not included into display fields in AutoComplete control. For example in SmartObject table you may have fields with some title (e.g. "USB Data Storage Devices") and also field with key words (e.g., "usb usb port usb drive"). And inclusion of this "key words" field into display fields creates unreadable results, but at the same time it is very convenient/efficient to maintain capability to search by key words using this approach. There is also an opposite situation when it may be necessary, for example, to display Name and Family Name, position and user login in control but at the same time perform search only by Name and Family Name.

Described functionality present in Picker control (where it is possible to check SmartObject's fields which will be searchable and in parallel construct display value from other selected SmartObject's fields) but for some reason AutoComplete control missing this functionality. There is an existing feature request for this (internal ID 686556). In current versions of K2 (including upcoming 4.7) this functionality does not exist.

(3) This is expected behavior/by design. There is also an existing feature request (internal ID 684560) to make this number configurable or add an option to display any number of results.
