Hello all,

I have created a workflow for a document library which utilizes a State Machine.  The workflow initiator needs to fill in several required fields for the workflow to execute (due date, Checker, Approver).

Ideally I would like the initiator to click workflow and have the workflow prompt them to fill out these fields (as opposed to them needing to update the item properties in the library, save, and then go to click workflow, or having a separate "assign a task" action after they start the workflow.

Is there an action that will pop up a form prompting the initiator to fill in information right from the start workflow screen?

Thanks very much,

-Reid

there is not such an action.

but you can configure workflow variable to 'Show on start form' which causes initiator is asked to provide values for them when s/he is about to start workflow.

you can as well make them 'Required'

or  there is an workflow start form you could customize. on the form you can make fields mandatory with validation rules

Hello Marian.

Thank you very much for the information. I think this feature would work for me but I don't see either of these options in my workflow designer.

Do you know why this would be (attached images show my workflow settings)?

Thank you,

-Reid

Please Disregard this question.  It appears I need to have my SharePoint Admin "enable custom start pages" within Global Settings.

Thank you,

-Reid
