Symptoms
The following errors observed in K2 host server log:
Arithmetic overflow error converting IDENTITY to data type int.
Arithmetic overflow occurred.
Diagnoses
It is possible to verify/confirm whether these errors caused by IDENTITY counter overflow on the table "_Log" by running a query.
This problem is a known issue which has been resolved in 4.7 release and workaround for any earlier versions is to truncate _Log table.
This problem is caused by the fact that existing SQL Identity column gets too small to handle the volume of logs which is generated – SQL runs out of ID’s. It was not anticipated by developers that anyone would run into such problem because of this threshold.
Resolution
The Identity seed issue will be resolved in 4.7, and there won’t be any code fixes for this problem made for any versions of K2 pre 4.7. Workaround above is for those who run anything older than 4.7.
