Symptoms

1. Inconsistent SmartObject. Mapped ServiceObject Property does not exist. SmartObject: ]. Service : ]. ServiceObject : ]. Version : ]. Property : ]

2. SP2013 SmartObjects are throwing “Object reference” errors when executed on the tester.

3. When filling out a form linked to SP2013 smartobject, the following error appears:
“Value does not fall within the specified range”

Diagnoses

1. The properties indicated on the error message were columns that are not present in the SharePoint list of the target environment.

2. The following error was logged upon service restart:
“SmartObject Runtime Init","0 Object reference not set to an instance of an object.”
Furthermore, it was found that the SourceCode.SmartObject.Runtime.config file in “ninstall drive]K2 blackpearlHost ServerBin” contained duplicate lines for “brokerpackagein” and “servicepackagein”.

3. Some of the lookup fields in the list was not associated with the MasterList when we compared the UAT and the DEV environment. We were not able to create a list item from SP itself as the dropdown field is empty.

Resolution

1. After adding the columns in and refreshing the service instance, this was resolved.

2. After correcting this by replacing it with the same file located in “ install drive]K2 blackpearlService Broker”, the issue was resolved and SmartObjects began to work fine.

3. After resolving the discrepancies with the SharePoint list, this was fixed.
