Hi All,
I have this problem.please help me

While I work in the K-2 system in the workspace, it times out, and the small screen dialog box pops up wanting me to enter a password again for access to the system.

There is no password that works in that screen, and it is almost impossible to get rid of it, even to allow me to reboot the K-2 system.

It might take 10 attempts to close or delete that dialog box before it allows me to move on to close the K-2 system. Because of those multiple attempts to get rid of the password dialog box, my total access is locked down, and I have to call the network person to get it released.

 problems are:

1. The K-2 system does not stay open for me long enough to do my work. I need it open for hours, not minutes.

2. Because the K-2 demands password re-entry after 15 – 20 minutes, it puts up a password dialog box that does not accept any of my passwords

3. Because the dialog box cannot be cleared, to allow me to close the K-2 and re-boot, my complete system gets locked down.

Thanks!!!!

Hi there,

Your problem sounds like a very frustrating one so I hope I can help.

First I just want to confirm that you are using K2.net 2003 and that it is the standard out of the box workspace?

Next I would suggest that you add the workspace to your trusted sites in IE so that you don't have to manually enter your username and password.  The browser will automatically send your logged in credentials.

As far as I know there is NO reason why K2 will automatically ask you for your password again, unless you have a refresh rate set to greater than the asp time out value.

Do you have some kind of auto refesh rate set on your work list? You can check this by clicking the "Workspace Settings" button that is in the left upper corner of workspace just below the K2.net 2003 logo. In this dialog box check how long "auto refresh" field is set to. If this is more than 20 minutes (1200 secs) then you can try making it less (say 600). That way the worklist will automatically refresh it self before the next session time out.

Lastly you can also change the session timeout value in IIS - the default is 20 minutes, but I would only suggest this as a last resort and don't make it something like 8 hours...

Also you can have a look at the following KB article that discusses these kind of issues: http://kb.k2workflow.com/articles/kb000171.aspx

Hope that helps,
