I am trying to keep track of specific worklist items assigned to different users. Is it possible to search for these items even though I cannot see them in my worklist?

This is a very good question and it is possible to see what  worklist items are currently available. The first step in this process is to access K2 Management and under User Management select the Worklists section:

On the right you will see an input section, you can specify what values you are looking for here:

After running the search you can see all items tied to all worklists. You also have the option to Delegate, Redirect and Release worklist items. You will only want to use these options in specific cases though so be very careful when using these options.
