Diagnoses

To start a workflow using SharePoint forms follow the resolution provided.

Resolution

To start off a workflow using a hybrid of SharePoint forms and SmartForms use the following steps:

To start a new workflow item using a New SharePoint form:

1. Access a SharePoint list that has been appified or create a new list and appify it. Select Forms from the artifacts creation page and click OK.
2. After the artifacts for the list have been created, select "Form Settings" on the artifacts page.
3. If the list needs to utilize any SharePoint forms, select the "The default SharePoint (Form Type) Form" option for which forms that are required to be SharePoint vs. SmartForm.
4. After making these selections, click 'Save'.
5. From the artifacts page, click 'New', then select 'Workflow'.
6. On the workflow creation page select "When the following events occur", then select "An item was added".
7. Click OK.

This will allow for the ability to start off a workflow using a New SharePoint form instead of SmartForms. To configure the workflow to allow actions based on SharePoint forms follow the rest of these steps:

8. When the designer launches locate the tab that says 'General', click this to open the events options menu, select 'User Tasks'.
9. Notice that there is the option to use the 'User Task (SharePoint)' event, drag this event into the first empty step of the workflow.
10. Configure the event to use either the Display or Edit SharePoint Form.
11. Configure the rest of the event as one would with a SmartForms user task.
12. Add any other necessary steps to the workflow.
13. Deploy the workflow.

After the workflow has been deployed, any new items submitted should utilize the configured SharePoint forms.
