I have been struggling with this for some time now, the
client wants to have an action selected by default when he open his item, for
example: - if the manager step got 2 actions “approve and reject” I need the
approve action to be selected by default.

The system is InfoPath forms hosted on SharePoint 2007 over
K2 black pearl 4.5, I have tried every idea that came across my mind, such as.

Removing the “clear workflow actions” rule, from the open
and save forms options – but whenever I close the form and it gets automatically
commented to k2, k2 change it automatically back to its old format – also I have
tried to do it from outside k2 and change the form from the place it is saved
on not from k2 studio, the result was the same after publishing.

I have tried in every way to change the control with default
select, and to select it on submit click but nothing worked out.

Please help,

Try setting the default value for the field in the InfoPath form that you bind the dropdown to (set the default value to Approve for your example). InfoPath will default the selected item in the dropdown based on the current value in the field.

I have tested this with 1420 (make sure that you uncheck the "Enable the Clear Workflow Task Action Rule option" checkbox in the InfoPath form wizard), the form loads with Approve selected in the dropdown list.

thanks for answering,

but it didn't work out that way, if you published anything using K2 blackpearl studio, it will change again to the default, i have solved it by publish the form from inside infopath after change the clear tasks thing you mentioned.
