Symptoms

I'd like to not show the default blue box for a workflow, instead tying the approval to a button on the form. Right now, an approver adds a piece of information to the form he is approving, then hits "Save" button on my form to save the data he added, then goes down to the workflow box, chooses "approve" and hits submit.

I think that can all be tied to the action of that initial "save" button click...but I don't know how to do that.

Diagnoses

This is possible by using the User Task Action Settings from within the Start Rule.

Resolution

You can create a dropdown to replace the blue box of actions, and select 'Use an existing list control to display the actions' from Action Settings. Then you can attach all of your logic to the save button within the workflow state.
