If you have a subsite and would like to have access to the parent site via the top menu, you can easily add a link to the parent site. 

First, copy and paste the URL of the parent site you would like to create a link to.

Next, select "Edit Links" at the top of the subsite you are working on

From there, specify the link name and URL of the link and click save.
